Eating local food is an important part of any trip abroad. It can help you understand its culture, its customs and its people.Currently I am living in Canada and I am very lucky because I love a lot of traditional food here, especially as some of it is similar to the food in the UK.
It is quite easy to find food such as baked beans, meat pies and fish and chips, which are all British food but were not very common when I lived in France.Yet it can never be quite the same. For example, the fish and chips here is not greasy(高脂肪的) so I'm glad that this is beneficial to my health. Also, mushy peas and vinegar are not a main part of the fish-and-chip supper in Quebec;once when I ordered the dish in a restaurant,it even came with salad and rice!
However, globalisation(全球化) means that many types of food have spread to other countries in one form or another. My friends and family joke that I cannot spend a week without my favourite meal of spaghetti. It is true that in almost every country I have visited,I have enjoyed a meal of spaghetti,in Canada,Germany,Spain,Romania and even in Thailand! However,I always make sure I enjoy the local food too.
From my time in Canada so far,I have known that there will be food I am going to miss when I return home.I will have to make sure that I have enough room in my suitcase to pack a few large bottles of the country's tastiest treat!

2.Each year on Halloween, children look forward to trick-or-treating (不請客就搗亂) for candies. But for some kids, eating Halloween candies can be dangerous.
That's because one out of every 13 kids in the Us have a food allergy(過敏癥).They are allergic to ingredients(成分)in many Halloween candies, such as peanuts, tree nuts, milk, eggs, and beans. If they eat these foods, they will get sick or even die.

"I brought my candies home and gave them to the neighbors," Kylie said. "It felt terrible."
But this year,Conlen,Kylie and other kids with food allergies will have a chance for a happy Halloween. That's because nearly 100,000 households across the US have promised to take part in the Teal Pumpkin Project(TPP),which was started last year by Food Allergy Research & Education(FARE).FARE is an organization that works to improve the lives of people with food allergies.Through the project, the households agree to have nonfood items for trick-or-treaters,including trinkets(小飾品) and toys.
To take part in the project, people buy a teal(藍綠色) pumpkin or paint a pumpkin teal and place it in front of their house. The painted pumpkins let trick-or-treaters know that nonfood items are available there. The households also add their home addresses to an online map, making it easier for trick-or-treaters to find them.
