30．The forest in the east of Zimbabwe（an African country） offer the country wood and most of their fresh fruit.But the disappearance of a large number of trees and the use of fire to clear land have caused a lot of damage to the area.
Officials say Zimbabwe has lost more than 15，000 square kilometers of forest.This is mostly because of local communities cutting down the trees.
But now a group，called Environment Africa，is trying to improve the sjye.aiuation.It is teaching farmers to raise bees.And it has already helped about 15，000 farmers.
Benjamin Chatambura is one such farmer.He has set up about 250 beehives（蜂房） near his home.Chatambura sells the honey the bees produce and us the money to feed his family.He likes having bees on his bees on his land because the insects help him and the forest.
"The trees provide us with flowers，" he says. " That is the food for the bees to produce honey.If there were a way，I would like more land to plant more trees.We used to have serious problems before we were taught about the importance of the forest."
Lawrence Nyagwande is working in Environment Africa.He says some farmers are earning as much as USMYM1，000 a month by selling honey.
Support for this project has helped bring attention to the need to protect the environment，and caught the attention of the government.Violt Makoto works for a government organization that works to protect forests.She says the government hopes local community leaders will take up beekeeping.
