2.When I was 17,I read a magazine article about a museum called the McNay,once the home of a watercolorist named Marian McNay.She had requested the community to turn it into a museum upon her death. On a sunny Saturday,Sally and I drove over to the museum. She asked, "Do you have the address?" "No,but I'll recognize it,there was a picture in the magazine."
"Oh,stop.There it is!"
The museum was free.We entered, excited.A group of people sitting in the hall stopped talking and stared at us.
"May I help you?" a man asked. "No," I said. "we're fine." Tour guides got on my nerves. What if they talked a long time about a painting you weren't that interested in?Sally had gone upstairs. The people in the hall seemed very nosy(愛窺探的),keeping their eyes on me with curiosity. What was their problem?I saw some nice sculptures in one room.Suddenly I sensed a man standing behind me. "Where do you think you are?" he asked.I turned sharply. "The McNay Art Museum!" He smiled, shaking his head. "Sorry, the McNay is on New Braunfels Street." "what's this place?" I asked, still confused. "Well,it's our home." My heart jolted(震顫),I raced to the staircase and called out, "Sally!Come down immediately!"
"There's some really good stuff(藝術(shù)作品) up there." She stepped down, looking confused.I pushed her toward the front door, waving at the family, saying, "Sorry, please forgive us,you have a really nice place." Outside, when I told Sally what happened, she covered her mouth, laughing. She couldn't believe how long they let us look around without saying anything.
The real McNay was splendid, but we felt nervous the whole time we were there.Van Gogh,Picasso. This time,we stayed together,in case anything else unusual happened.
Thirty years later,a woman approached me in a public place. "Excuse me,did you ever enter a residence, long ago, thinking it was the McNay Museum?"
"Yes.But how do you know?We never told anyone."
"That was my home.I was a teenager sitting in the hall. Before you came over,I never realized what a beautiful place I lived in.I never felt lucky before. You thought it was a museum. My feelings about my home changed after that.I've always wanted to thank you."

3.When you visit America, you will see the word Motel on signs and notice boards. It is made up of "motor" and "hotel" and it is really a hotel for people who arrive by car (however, you don't need a car to stay at one). You have to pay when you arrive for your room, which usually has a bath.Meals are not provided, but there will certainly be a cafeteria (自助餐館).Americans eat a lot of salads and sandwiches.Along the main roads there are a lot of motels. Each tries to offer more than next. Some provide television in every bedroom;others have swimming pools;and so on.Motels are especially useful when you are in the country, far from a town or city. You will also find them in the big National Parks.
In these great National Parks, you may meet guests you don't expect to see.An American friend told me a little story. In the middle of a moonless night she heard strange noises outside her motel window in the Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming.Thinking it might be a thief, she jumped out of bed, opened the door and crept towards a dark shadow. As she got close, she saw the thief. She was dreadfully frightened:it wasn't a human thief - it was a big black bear. The bear was turning over some empty tins with its paw, looking for tasty bits of food.My friend decided to leave that particular thief alone!
There are also,of course, places called "rooming houses",where they receive lodgers(房客).You will see such signs as Tourists or Rooms Rent, and you could try one of these.A word of warning - looking for a room in New York during the tourist season is like looking for gold on the moon!
(1)Which of the following is TRUE about motels?
A.They are free for people who arrive by car.
B.The word "motel" is formed by two words.
C.You can only find motels in the big National Parks.
D.If you want to stay at a motel, you must have a car.
(2)The underlined word "crept" in the second paragraph probably means"A.moved slowly B.rushed out C.ran fast D.threw away
A.a(chǎn)n interesting story
B.bears usually look for food at night
C.the experience of the author's friend
D.we may meet animals in the National Parks
(4)From the last paragraph,we can learn that in New York during the tourist season

One day,I found a wallet on the street. The wallet contained only three dollars and a very old letter. The envelope was worn and the only thing on it was the return address.I started to open the letter, hoping to find some information. Then I saw the cate-1990,and the signature-Beatrice.The letter was written several decades ago.
Then I made every effort and found out that Beatrice was now working in a hospital.I showed her the letter. The second she saw the letter, she took a deep breath and said, "Young man, this letter was the last contact I ever had with Henry. He is my only brother.I loved him very much.I was only 16 at the time and my brother is two years younger than me.If you can find him, tell him I'm still looking for him," she said and tears began to well up in her eyes. "Mother is waiting for him to come back home."
When I walked out of the building with the wallet in my hand, the guard of the building recognized the wallet, and with his help,I finally found its owner,Henry.I handed the wallet to Henry and he said,"Yes,that's mine!It must have dropped out of my pocket this afternoon."
"I read the letter in the hope of finding out who owned the wallet." I said. The smile on his face suddenly disappeared. He asked,"You read that letter?" "Not only did I read it,but also Beatrice read." I replied. He suddenly became excited. "Beatrice? You know where she is?How is she? Please tell me," he begged. "She's fine. She has been looking for you." I said softly.
He grabbed my hand and said,"Sir,you know she is my only sister in this world.I've always missed her."
