  • 44.Answer the questions(根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容回答下列問題)
Is it OK to regift present?
    What you need to know
    ?People in the UK spend a total of £700 million each year on Christmas presents that aren't wanted;
?Regifting means giving an unwanted present to someone else at a later date.Regifting could also mean giving the present to charity.

Unwanted gifts are a fact of life.
    Some say pass them on.
No -- receive presents with gratitude
Giving gifts is a tradition that brings families and friends togejye.air.The right response to a present is to be thankful, whether you want the thing or not.To pass a present on is ungrateful and rude. What happens in six months if the giver asks to see the thing they considerately(體貼地)chose and gave you,or asks if you're enjoying it?You might hurt the giver's feelings.Besides,a thing is only a waste if a person doesn't use it.So be imaginative, work out how to enjoy the gift and be thankful.
    NO
Three reasons why it is not OK to regift
①Giving presents is a thoughtful act of generosity(慷慨)that should be met with thanks- regifting could be seen as rude and ungrateful by the giver.
②Regifting may mean the person receiving the present has to lie later on and pretend that they still have the present and are using it.
③Instead of regifting,be imaginative and think about how to make use of the present and enjoy it.
Yes -- an unwanted thing becomes treasure
When it comes to presents, some say it's the thought that counts.Others think it's the thing, and when the thing is unwanted, the present is just a waste. There's a lot of waste in the world, and it's damaging the environment.Instead of adding to the problem, give the gift to someone who will love it.Books and toys can be given to a friend on their birthday or to a children's charity, and clothes to a homeless shelter. In any case,it is often much better to give than to receive.
    YES
Three reasons why it is OK to regift
①Regifting is an excellent way to make use of something that would otherwise(否則) be a waste. There is far too much waste and it's terrible for the environment.
②You can give the gift to a friend on a birthday,or to charitable (慈善的) cause, and make someone else happy with the thing you didn't want.
③Regifting turns disappointment into joy.One person's waste is another's(5).
(1)How much money do people in the UK spend each year on Christmas presents they are unwanted?

(2)It isn't OK to regift because people receive presents with gratitude,is it?

(3)What does the underlined sentence "It is the thought that counts." mean?

(4)According to the passage, which is much better, giving or receiving a gift?

(5)After reading the passage, try to complete the last sentence with the proper word:One person's waste is another's
    .
(6)Are you for or against regifting present?Give a reason which is Not mentioned in the passage?
