  • 1.Water on the Moon NASA has confirmed the presence of water on the moon's sunlit surface,a breakthrough(1)
(suggest) the chemical compound that is vital to life on Earth could be distributed across more parts of the lunar surface than the ice that(2)
(find) previously in dark and cold areas.
"We don't know yet if we can use it as a resource," NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine said, but he added that learning more about the water is still crucial.
The discovery comes from the space agency's Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy,or SOFIA-a(3)
    (modify) Boeing 747 that(4)
take telescope high into Earth's atmosphere, (5)
researchers may peer at objects in space with hardly any visual disturbance from water vapor. To detect the molecules,SOFIA also used a special camera to distinguish between water's specific wavelength of 6.1 microns and that of its close chemical relative hydroxyl,or OH.
        The data confirm(6)
experts have suspected, that water might exist on the moon's sunny surface, though the form of it shall be(7)
(obvious) to detect.Experts will now try to figure out exactly how the water came to form and why it persists.
"Data from this location reveal water in concentration of 100 to 412 parts per million trapped(8)
a cubic meter of soil." NASA said in a release about the discovery.
        "(9)
without a thick atmosphere, water on the sunlit lunar surface should just be lost to space," said Casey Honniball, the lead author of a study about the discovery. "Somehow we're actually seeing it."
There are several possible explanations for the water's presence, including an interesting yet reasonable(10)
claiming its origin to the stony micro objects from space.Small balls of glass from that process could trap water, according to the researchers' paper.

Eating Jellyfish Could Come to the Rescue According to the IUCN Red List 32,000 species are threatened with extinction-everything from birds and mammals.Despite national and international efforts being gathered to protect(1)
species,we actively fish for many of them. For those seafood lovers, the news is sad,but the researchers have come up with an unusual way we can help-and it(2)
    eating jellyfish.
       Between 2006 and 2014,92 vulnerable or threatened(3)
    were being caught,recorded,and sold.When they are sold,it is(4)
that fish and invertebrate (無脊椎的) species are required to be(5)
according to species,so consumers have no way of knowing what they're eating.
It is stressed that only a/an(6)
view of the real problem is shown. "A lot of the 'seafood records' are listed in groups like 'marine fish'.Here we didn't look at those vague records,we only looked at records where the actual species was listed-so we've made a huge (7)
    of the actual catch.
There are some ways to untie the mess we're creating in the world's oceans,including(8)
our idea of seafood to include jellyfish. That might sound a little off the theme, but it's not the first time scientists have suggested it as a food source.
There are other ways to help keep the lovely marine lives off the menu. "We need to improve the labelling of seafood so that consumers can have all the information to make a/an(9)
choice," conservation scientist Carissa Klein told Science Alert.
And these choices,at least in some places, are easier than you might imagjye.aie.In Australia, where the researchers are based, there's even official guides providing the(10)
future both on your table and at sea.

  • 4.Oh,Memories I must have been three or four when I woke one morning remembering a trip I'd taken alone to Disneyland before I was born.It was so real to me that I bawled when my two older brothers laughed at my story. But this happened,I cried.Honestly,I had met Mickey Mouse, ridden the Matterhorn, everything, and it was amazing.
So began my lifelong struggle with memory. While my dreams invent experiences I can't shake, important life events and old friends reside in a fog of impressions.Even my one pride, recalling the details of every trail I've ever walked, has fallen away. Now,when Susan and I come for a walk along a familiar trail,I just shrug,a once trusted scout absent his sole gift.
Out of shame,I've compensated spectacularly, building an absurd alternate memory literally as big as a room. It's an attic full of cabinets and boxes holding 500 pounds of clippings, maps, tickets to everything I've attended, report cards (mine and my kids'),work files,Christmas cards, and doodles of nothingness. To what purpose?Good question.
I don't refer to the material, because how would I find what I was looking for?My kids laugh out loud when I say it's for them.I 'll never write one memoir from this mess, much less the dozen its size implies. It's as if I were a hoarder (hoard囤積) of evidence that I exist.Only I can tell that it's a room of proof that I do still remember something that I am hoarding.
"The Truth About Memory" explains,Memory, isn't about evidence. It's just an old man telling tales by a fire, prone to nonsense but also entertaining as heck and rich with meanings to savor.Reading it,I felt a weight ljye.ait.If a good memory is a brain full of unreliable, deeply felt stories,I have those in every flash of moment!
You do,too,I'm sure, cherish a powerful memory that makes you smile,no matter how foggy or questionably true it is,although I bet it won't be as fantastic as my sojoum to Disneyland.
