1，504 photos were entered and over 900，000 votes（選票） were cast in the Register's first Hawaii Photo Contest．The winners were in two categories：
Readers' Choice Award：
The photo by Shannon Maciolek Ricci shows young Maddie James kissing her mother，with a rainbow and palm trees（棕櫚樹） behind them．It was taken last summer．Ricci says her ＄500 prize will go to help start the Maddie James Foundation．
Judges' Choice Award：
The photo by Don Bigelow is a shot of the waves at Waimea Bay，and it was taken in 2010．Bigelow will receive ＄500．
Congratulations to Ricci and Bigelow，and thanks to all who entered and voted．Some of the top photos will be shown at ocregister．com in the coming days．
