   My name is Michael Rosen.I was born on May 7th 1946 in a place called Harrow，Middlesex.I was brought up by my mum and dad.When I was born，my dad was in the Army but later he became an English teacher in middle schools.In 1948，my mum was trained to be a primary school teacher.
   When I was young，my parents were very interested in education，schools，learning and books.They hoped very much that my brother and I should do well in our schoolwork.But at the same time，they were very funny，humorous people who loved jokes，stories and songs.My father loved to sing songs in lots of different languages as well as poetry or plays — especially Shakespeare （莎士比亞）.This meant that my head was full of all kinds of words and expressions.My brother is four years older than me and he was like a third parent.Anything they taught him at school，he thought he had to teach me.He was，and still is，a very funny person too.He was very good at imitating（模仿） people he knew，including our mum and dad.
   When I was 17，I thought that I would quite like to be a doctor.So I went to the Middlesex Hospital Medical School.But I wasn't happy and I had a plan：if I went to the same college as my brother，it would be easy to change back to learning English.So I was very lucky and got into Oxford.I did one more year of medical things，and then changed to English Language and Literature（ 文學(xué)）.All the time I was at university，I spent many，many hours writing，acting and directing plays.
   From the mid 1970s to about 1985，I worked two days a week as a "writer-teacher" .In the 1990s I studied for a PhD（博士后） – in children's literature and writing.
