Treece,Kansas,is a poisoned town.Only one house remains.Tim and Della Busby are the only residents there today. And they say they're staying there.Even if it's poisoned,Treece is still their home.
This tiny community in southeast Kansas used to be a busy mining town-with a school, hundreds of homes and bars.
But,the mines that turned Treece into a boomtown(新興小鎮(zhèn)) finally left it lifeless and abandoned(荒廢的).
It's a poisoned town now.All but two residents left when the federal government offered help to the 138 people who stuck around after the mines shut down, the Kansas City Star reports.
The Environmental Protection Agency says decades of zinc(鋅) and lead mining have left the soil, water and air polluted.Piles of poisoned mining debris(碎屑),called chat, litter the streets. The mines that were dug below the town are turning the ground into Swiss cheese,as many sink holes develop throughout the town-many big enough and deep enough to swallow(吞沒) a man whole.
However, the EPA tried to save Treece.Only one child out of 16 in the town was tested for having dangerously high levels of lead.
But as the damage in Treece was already done, the residents no longer believed it was safe to live there.

Not all experts agree that over-gaming should be called a disorder. They say people who spend too much time on video games may develop other mental health problems. These should be treated first Others think WHO did the right thing.Clifford Sussman is a doctor who treats gaming addiction (癮).He says those kids often get angry easily and it makes everything difficult for them to complete, like schoolwork.
Sussman advises tracking (跟蹤) how long you play.He says you should take at least an hour-long break after every hour of play. The brain needs time to recover.
Young gamers who think they might have a problem should ask an adult for help.Sussman suggests you first answer a simple question: "Are you in control,or is the game in control?"
