A few years ago，I wen through a period of such serious depression that life didn't seen worth living.It was like always in winter，so icy and so cold that the sun would never shine.
Then saw green shoots pushing through the freezing，hard ground.I looked them every day until I felt that if they could come back to life， then so could I. Those green shoots gave me hope.
In a way that nothing else did.They encouraged me to keep going，even when times were bard and I wanted to quit.
As spring came，I started to put in more and more plants until my garden was filled with color.Life was growing through my hands；gentle peaceful，but ，above all optimistic.If l gave love，it was returned，even more than it was worth.I watched my garden grow bigger end bigger.
I could spend hours lost in gardening.The depression I have is passed from my mother.It has affected generation of my family and may happen in any situation.I can be depressed when the sum is shining or I am with a group of loving friends.
Of course，fresh air and exercise help to reduce depression，but for me，gardening is more than that.It represents endurance，as well as hope.
At the end of the first gardening season，I stood before a huge and strong tree.It lived through freezing temperatures and strong winds.It bent but never broke.The leaves dropped until look like nothing more than a skeleton，but it always，always came back to life.And so learned that although we might face many challenges，hope can help us get through them.
